Every year, the Biel Photography Days collaborate with second-year graphic design students at the Biel School of Visual Arts to produce a photographic project, which is then exhibited.

The theme for 2025 was “Horizon.” Throughout our lives, our horizons change, shift, and redefine themselves. One of the most complicated horizons is undoubtedly that of moving into a retirement home. What should you choose to take with you? Objects become much more than just things. Parting with them often means leaving a part of yourself behind.
For my project “Quand les objets parlent” (When Objects Speak), I met with retirement home residents and invited them to show me an object that was dear to their hearts. Together, we opened a dialogue around these fragments of life. This work was also a way of giving a voice back to those who are too often forgotten in a fast-paced society.
Through my photographs, I sought to capture these emotions, stories, and silences. I deliberately chose to crop out the faces so that the viewer's gaze would fall on the object, which would become the true bearer of their presence.
